CAMERAWORK
My camera work has been called clean, elegant and artistic.
I try to 'get out of the way' and let a shot or a scene unfold itself. I aspire to merge the creative and technical to its ultimate perfection. I have worked with many cameras and changing technologies over time. What doesn't change is the importance of proper focus, iris settings, white balance, exposure, audio levels, etc. Understanding your final objective for acquiring footage is essential. Good camerawork is a blend of art and science, focus and patience.
I can help manifest your vision, preserve your memories and promote your business or service.

EDITING
I enjoy the "magic" of editing — taking raw footage and giving it life, educating, and telling a story. I can edit a project from start to finish, rough to final cut. I have developed an 'editor's eye' over the years and have a good sense of both the essential and the extraneous, and what makes a piece engaging. Staying mindful of the ultimate objective for a piece is imperative. Who is the audience? Where and how will the piece be viewed or marketed? What is the message to be communicated?
My studio is equipped with Mac-based Final Cut Pro editing software, as well as analog, tape-based formats. It is available to both experienced editors and newcomers. I can teach people to edit and they come away satisfied with their completed projects, and a new skill.
No project too big or small — existing footage welcome.

SCRIPTWRITING
I help clients write engaging and informative scripts and dialogue, conversational in tone and appropriate for video — often quite different than writing for print.

For those who want to do their own production/camera work, I rent professional and prosumer equipment. I teach people how to use the equipment and make sure they feel confident on it.

CONSULTATION & TEACHING
I offer consultations for people with ideas or goals, but not a lot of information and know-how. Whether they wish to hire me or do it themselves, I shed light on equipment, costs, crew, scripting, production schedules, etc. I help them save time and money, whenever possible. I also do tutorials for people wanting to learn their own equipment, particularly cameras. There are many settings and menu options on most new cameras. Understanding their use can maximize video and audio quality.

I'm a SPECTRA Artist in the Schools, through The Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County. I teach hands-on production, as well as performance workshops, grades 3 - 8.
I can tailor workshops to fit the needs of any school or classroom situation, for children and adults.
